Super Bowl Salon

My Dad and his wonderful wife, Fran, came over tonight to eat dinner with us, watch The Game, and in general just hang out. We had a great time. Very relaxing. The boys were around too but when the camera was out they happened to be in the basement.  

 Evelyn loves to practice painting peoples nails. When she realized she had two new customers she went to work on wooing them into submission. They were both great sports and let her practice her fledling skills on them. I am not even sure I could have gotten my Dad to let me paint his toenails when I was little girl. However, Evelyn has him wrapped around her little finger for sure, so it wasn't a tough sale.

 Aren't they lovely?



Sunny Sledding

Today was the perfect day for sledding. The sun was shining, it was warm with low 40's temps, and the kids had the day off of school. We ran over to the hill behind our Stake Center and had a great time! It was so bright out that I couldn't see my screen on my camera so I didn't notice that I never got a great shot of the kids. Ethan has his eyes closed in one and Evie was looking down in another. Still great photos if you ask me.

 They had a great time flying down that hill.

And of course, wiping out! Luckily there were no injuries.

 There was also A LOT of hiking the sleds back up the hill.

 Sometimes it helps to stick your tongue out.

 Once they started slowing down they started getting distracted, by snow forts.

It was so fun we might just have to go again tomorrow!

5 Going on 25

Oh boy!

I think Nate and I are in  for some trouble raising this one. I heard a lot of cute little girl giggles coming from Evelyn's room while she had her friend Daniella over. So I went to investigate. I was surprised to see how grown up my little Cincess had become! So funny with their popped out hips, blowing kisses and Evie's  panties  stuffed into her swimsuit to make boobs. I really had to work to keep a straight face so that they would let me take their pictures. Oh boy!

 You can tell by the mess her room is that they were having a GREAT time!



Passing The Torch

On Sunday, January 13th, our Young Womens Presidency was released.

Unexpectedly. Being 1st Counselor, this obviously had an impact on me.

 I was called to this position 15 months ago. Straight from the Primary Presidency I went to the Young Women's Presidency. It was completely overwhelming.

 Primary had been my home for FIVE years and I was super tight with my Primary Presidency.

 Super Tight.

I kind of went into mourning.

 Although I had been in a Young Women's Presidency before and loved it I found this transition to be more difficult. Part of it was that I was going into an existing Presidency and my poor Mia Maids had had their leaders switched out numerous times in the previous year or so. So, they were not really in the mood to open up to a new leader, again, when who knows how long she was gonna be around.

It was super rough the first four months.

But as time went on, we got close to each other and had a GREAT time together.

So, when I got told our Presidency was being released, it was rough. We were just getting traction. Just getting to the nitty gritty of it all. I was feeling great about where we were heading. I was super excited to explore the new curriculum with my girls. It took a little time to get past the shock and then process the change. Part of that processing took place at our Presidency's last Mutual activity.

We went down to the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City.

It was wonderful. I am sure gonna miss hanging with my girls.

I am super excited to see the girls work with the new Leaders and see how much they grow.

Laketown Lodge: January 2013

We love to go to the Laketown Lodge in Bear Lake.

We try to go atleast once a year as an extended Burke family.

We always have such a great time. We get to kick back, relax, eat a ton of food, let the kids run wild with each other, just have a great time. We love it.
