Pictures With Santa: Take 2

From what I hear the ward Christmas party was a huge success! I unfortunately was home sick. So I sent Nate and the kids off to party without me. Younger Brother Barker took these photos of the kids for us.

Come Sing It On The Mountain

I always love to go to the school to listen to my kids sing. This last term Ryland has been learning about Mountains. The different layers that they have, the kind of terrain they have, etc. One of the things I love about their school is whatever they are having their expedition on for the term is a part of EVERYTHING they do at school. Art projects have to do with the Mountains, Music class they learn songs about Mountains, etc. I LOVE it. This particular Choir concert they held this morning was no different. The songs that Rylands crew sang were:
  • I'm Gonna Take That Mountain
  • Mountains Are Calling Me
  • Mighty Mountains

Evelyn and her friend from class, Taydree got nice and cozy for the concert.

Celebration of Learning: Wee The People

At our kids School they hold a Celebration of Learning at the end of the term. The kids get to showcase what they have been working on. Evelyn has been learning about Heroes, the Constitution, public figures, National Monuments, etc. So tonight they opened up a Museum of Heroes. The kids picked someone that they felt was a Hero and learned about that person. Then for the Celebration of Learning they were to dress like their Hero and present what they learned about them. Evelyn chose her Daddy, Nate. She felt he was a Hero especially because earlier in the Summer one of our kittens paws was stuck and he helped free the ensnared kitten. It really made an impression on her.
Doesn't she make a cute Nate?

There was a lot of information about Nate on her poster, but I loved the section where she talked about what she has learned from her Hero.
She said: How to Swing. How to be kind to our cats. How to Color. How to be a nice friend. How to Pray. How to clean my Room. How to do my Chores.
The cute little Kindergarteners stood still until someone came and pressed their red buttons to hear their spiel about their Heroes. Super cute!
Evelyn and some of her cute little friends from School.  Above is  Evelyn with Lilly. Below is Evelyn and Aliyah. Apparently someone else loves Aliyah too because in the middle of the picture being taken she rushed in to hug her.

12/12/12 : Life of A Boy Scout

Tonight Ethan received his Life Rank in Boys Scouts. We are so super proud of our Boy. He always works so hard on his merit badges. He currently has around 55 of them. We are looking forward to ramping up on his Eagle Project this coming Spring.
